Advanced Tests

"Ordering the appropriate test, is the key to treating and diagnosing the disease."

comicThe NMR LipoProfile® test is an advanced cardiovascular diagnostic blood test that uses nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to uniquely provide rapid, simultaneous and direct measurement of LDL particle number and size of LDL particles, as well as direct measurement of HDL and VLDL subclasses. This detailed lipoprotein particle information allows clinicians to make more effective individualized treatment decisions than previously possible based on standard lipid panel testing. The atherosclerotic culprit is LDL particle numbers, not LDL cholesterol.

The The Carotid IMT (intima media thickness) ultrasound by Panasonic CardioHealth Station uses state-of-the-art ultrasound technology and FDA approved software to measure the thickness of the first two layers of the carotid arteries located in the neck, where blood-flow-blocking plaque first develops. Abnormal, premature thickening of the arterial walls is an early indicator of vascular disease throughout the body. The thicker the arterial wall, the greater the risk for heart attack or stroke. No other test available can measure these silent, early changes as accurately as high-resolution ultrasound imaging used together with the IMT measuring software. Do not confuse this test with the carotid ultrasound tests that are sometimes offered to the public at local health fairs. They are NOT recommended as screening tests by any medical organizations.

Additional tests may also include CBC (complete blood count), CMP (complete metabolic profile), TSH (thyroid level), Insulin level, CRP-hs (C-reactive protein-high sensitive), Lp(a), Homocystine level, CPK, and HA1C.
